SUMMIT
1) "the highest point attainable; the peak"
- Alta's elevation makes it the
highest town in Iowa, the summit of our state! The ultimate high point of life is to
receive eternal life through a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. - 'The Sovereign Lord is my strength... He enables me to go on the
heights' - Habakkuk 3:18
2) "a meeting or gathering of people" - Our church family is made up of
people of all ages, with many children and teens. When we gather together to
worship, we do so for the highest of purposes: bringing glory to Jesus Christ.
Our Sunday summit (meeting) is truly the summit (high point) of our whole week!
- 'David was coming to the summit, where God was worshiped...' - 2 Samuel 15:32)
EVANGELICAL
FREE
"Evangelical"
refers to our commitment to the proclamation of the
gospel and to the authority of the Scriptures.
"Free" refers to our
form of church government which assures that our local churches are free from a
central controlling body.
The
Evangelical Free Church of
America is an association of some 1,500 autonomous churches united by a mutual
commitment to serve our Lord Jesus Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit
and obedience to the Word of God. We are committed to cooperate with one
another in ministry and fellowship as we seek to fulfill the Great
Commandment and the Great
Commission which Christ has entrusted to His Church -- "multiplying
healthy churches among all people." The growing
ministry of the EFCA currently extends to some 75 countries of the
world.
