Seven churches in Storm Lake and Alta joined forces together with Christ
for the City International (CFCI) to work with a Latin American
“Transformation Team” visiting Storm Lake and Alta this week, September
28 through October 1.
“The field is
ripe for harvest, and our Transformation Team is just one more tool in
the machine shed,” says Michael Ross, director of development at CFCI
world headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. “The team comes to sharpen the
Latinos already involved in the evangelical churches, and equip them to
continue to bring in the harvest of souls.”
The seven churches are also passing out flyers, inviting the
community to attend their services and activities. The churches will
also gather for a community potluck supper and praise service, open to
the public, at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 29, at the “Way of
Salvation” Baptist Church, 2015 West Milwaukee Street (Hope Evangelical
Free Church).
CFCI’s Transformation Team includes professionals from Costa Rica – two
pastors and four other people from churches and CFCI missions in Costa
Rica. The team will work with the local churches to equip them to grow
and multiply.
“Our
Transformation Teams are all about transforming cities by transforming
lives,” says Ross. “The teams travel the world to help local churches
reach out to new neighbors. And God has brought thousands of Hispanics
to this community, so our Team will train people in the churches to take
the Good News of hope and new life in Christ to the other Latino
residents.”
People from several local churches will be trained by the team,
including the sponsoring churches: Way of Salvation Baptist Church
(732-7057),
Church of Christ (213-1789), Christian Community (732-5161), Center of
Life Foursquare Church (213-1155),
Lutheran
Hispanic Church (732-6620), Pentecostal Church of God (213-1715), and
Summit Evangelical Free Church (200-2200).

Pastors of local Hispanic churches organized the CFCI Transformation Team visit. L to R: Mario Flores (Pentecostal Church of God), Bo Brink (Hispanic Lutheran Church), Saul Cortez (Foursquare Center of Life Church”, Grant Mangold (Summit Church), and Mario Pineda (“Way of Salvation” Baptist Church).
